18th Century Iron Pendant Lantern M

18th Century Iron Pendant Lantern M

A Folk Art 18th Century Rolled Sheet Iron Pendant Lantern.

The cylindrical body and conical pediment are pierced with intricate decorative perforations, with a flower shaped design to the back sheet. When lit by candlelight, the light scatters from the small incisions in dancing patterns across surrounding surfaces.

The lantern incorporates a protruding original glass pane - which light floods from, the top of the lantern is hung from a looped strap handle.

With their unique design such primitive pieces enable the flame to be protected from draft, but still allow for a beautiful amount of illumination.

This enchanting work of folk art brings radiance to those long Winter nights and make a wonderful unique storm lantern on a Summer’s evening on your al fresco dining table.

Smaller of the pair of lanterns. Last picture illustrates size of the duo together.
