Early Handyside Tazza Centrepiece Urn No.9 & Plinth c.1860

A superb oversized Tazza Urn No.9 with original sectional plinth No.5 A by the renowned English Foundry the Andrew Handyside Company (Britannia Iron Works, Derby) c.1860

The grand scale centrepiece tazza style urn on its original sectional pedestal has a wide and shallow saucer shaped bowl set upon a raised spreading socle foot. The gadrooned body of the urn surmounted by a lobed everted rim is decorated with egg and dart. Cast iron with original flaky cream coloured paint.

This decorative garden piece was designed to bring formality and ornamental symmetry to your garden. 



Andrew Handyside bought the Britannia Iron Works in 1848, and manufactured several ornamental vases in classical purity, form and ornament. 
Receiving distinctions at the Great Exhibition in 1850, the quality of their casts were exceptional.
