A striking Northern Italian Cararra marble carved fragment depicting a trio of lions masks and swags.
From the 16th Century. Finely and elegantly carved with lively yet gentle soft expressions within the lion’s faces. The lions have distinctive shell shaped ears and delicately flowing mane.
The piece would have been a fragment of a larger building used as a support or corbel. In excellent condition and is a wonderful example of northern Italian decorative architecture.
